Upresent’s eCardGiftNotice was created to provide a way to re-establish fun, emotional connections into the gift giving process AND allow Last Minute Gifts to be more viable with online purchases. It is our hope that by customizing our eCard Gift Notices an element of caring and creativity will brighten the current "brown box on the doorstep" experience, and minimize the impact felt when that brown box arrives late or is lost. Since it is well known that: "It is the thought that counts", we want to be sure the gift recipient knows the thought was sent… and more!
MISSION
To provide an ASP suite of gifting notifications by eCard and Printable eCard options that leads the industry in creating richer and more timely gift giving experiences through online purchases. We provide all of these services in the brands of our affiliates to allow the affiliate brands to be more positively associated with these boosted personal connections.
About our Founder / CEO
David MacMahan is the Founder and CEO of Upresent, his third-start-up in that capacity in the gift industry. During his 25 years in the gift, toy and collectible industries, David has created and marketed many products that have sold millions of units through companies such as Sears, Federated Department Stores, Macy's, Toys R Us, Sharper Image and most major mail order companies. These include novelty items like Zapswitch, Revenger, Hero Hoops, InterComedy and stained glass lighthouse and miniature village sculptures. As an inventor, designer, and entrepreneur, David and the products he invented, have been featured in the national media including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Herald Tribune, Newsweek and People, as well as Good Morning America, CNN, QVC, HSN and national and international talk radio programs. Among the awards and recognition his companies have garnered over the years are 8th and 11th place rankings in the KPMG and MEC Fast 50 in North Carolina.
After selling his previous collectible gift company in 1998, David's inspriration for the eCard Gift Notice services arose from frustrating gift giving and receiving experiences between his family in North Carolina and family in California. Often gifts would be shipped prior to a birthday or other gift occasion, but would arrive late. Sometimes overnight express charges were paid to get a brown box to arrive on time that nearly equalled the cost of the gift! He realized that many families and loved ones are separated and must be experiencing similarly frustrating gift experiences. He determined that the entire experience could be greatly improved through a combination of creativity and innovative use of the internet and founded Upresent.com.
David earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1980.
